The five rounds

The first four rounds flash a picture for three seconds. Then it hides, and you type your answer. The faster you can read a picture, the better you score. The last round is a race against the clock.

1. Dot grid

How many dots are there? There isn't time to count one by one. Count the rows and columns, multiply, then subtract the empty slots.

2. Angle

How many degrees is the angle? Compare it to a right angle (90°) and a straight line (180°), then adjust.

3. Percent

What percent of the squares are pink? The grid is 10 by 10, so every square is exactly 1%. Estimate a few rows and scale up.

4. Scale it

The blue bar is 10 long. How long is the pink bar? The bars point in different directions, so you have to measure one against the other in your head.

5. Shape math

Each shape stands for a number. Use the first lines to work out what each one is worth, then solve the last line. Remember the order of operations: multiply before you add or subtract. After you answer, you'll see what each shape was worth and how the last line works out. You have 45 seconds (60 on weekends), and solving faster scores more.

Scoring

Each round is worth up to 100 points, for a total of 500. The closer your answer, the more points you get. Being off by half or by double costs the same. In shape math only the exact answer scores well, and a correct answer within the first five seconds earns the full 100.

After each answer you'll see a rating:

The winning number and streaks

Every day has a winning number, the same for everyone. Score that many points or more and you win the day. After each round you'll see your running total and how many points you still need.

Win on consecutive days to build a win streak 🔥. A loss or a missed day resets it. The winning number is a little lower on harder days, so a streak is always within reach.

Harder as the week goes on

Like a newspaper crossword, shape math gets harder through the week. Monday and Tuesday are easy, with three shapes and mostly addition. Wednesday to Friday add multiplication and subtraction. Saturday and Sunday bring a fourth shape and a longer final line.

Sharing your score

When you finish, tap Share result to copy a spoiler-free summary with your win or loss, your score, a colour for each round, your shape-math time and your streak. Paste it in a group chat and see who reads numbers fastest.

Questions

When does a new puzzle come out?

Every day at midnight in your own time zone. The countdown on the results screen shows how long is left.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It's free, with no account and no download. Your streak and scores are saved in your browser on your own device.

How is my rank worked out?

Once enough people have played, your total is compared with everyone else who played the same puzzle that day. The crowd column shows the middle answer from all players for each round.

Can I replay a puzzle?

Each picture shows once. Reloading the page won't show it again, and the shape-math clock keeps running. That keeps the daily score fair for everyone.
